Edition Notes
Published by Otava Publishing Company, Ltd. in cooperation with The Finnish North American Literature Society, Inc.
Conceived to celebrate the ties between Finland and the United States, the work represents the culture of the Finnish people.
Supported by grants from the Finnish Parliament, its publication in 1988 seals the Year of Friendship between Finland and America proclaimed by President Ronald Reagan.
The Finnish North America Literature Society, a non-profit corporation, was founded in 1985 to establish a lasting memorial to the million Americans of Finnish origin who have helped build the United States, and to uphold their cultural traditions by honoring the Finnish classics.
Translated from the Finnish.
