"《龙须沟》讲述北京旧南城沿臭水沟一个小杂院里住著的四家人。年青姑娘二春和母亲王大妈相依为命，靠焊镜框勉强度日。二春热情倔强，她恨这条臭水沟，更恨那些欺负他们的人，她希望衝出这个恶劣的环境。王大妈因饱经风霜，胆小安命，母女俩常为此而拌嘴。北京解放后，龙须沟贫民区一改旧貌。人民政府惩办了黑旋风和冯狗子。程宝庆走出了家门，担负起自来水站的管理工作；赵老头不再病缠床褥，还当上了区人民代表；二嘎子找到了工作；二春高兴地进了工厂。两年后，人民政府发出了彻底整治龙须沟的号召，沟沿两旁群众积极响应，昔日的臭水沟修成了马路，肮葬腥臭的贫民区，变成了美丽的花园"--Container.
