John Carter Brown Library copy contains two engraved portraits, one of John Hancock as frontispiece, and the other of Charles Thompson, secretary to Congress, mounted on paper and bound to face p. 4, neither of which were issued with this volume; newspaper excerpts from the Pennsylvanian, Relf's Philadelphia gazette, and a bookseller's advertisement for the 13 volume full set of this series pasted onto front pastedown, and recto and versos of three front flyleaves; dated in ms. hand 4 Jan. 1845 at foot of front pastedown.
John Carter Brown Library copy originally contained a ms. letter dated Boston Novem. 17. 1781 signed by John Hancock, and addressed to John Brown, bound to face verso of title page; this letter has been removed and catalogued separately.
