...Play Through and Win All the King's Quest Games with the Answers You'll Find Here

Adapted as a guide from the King's Quest series, Peter Spear has offered the reader a literary and literal guide to those who would read the information about the games. In doing so, this book is separated into two portions:

-The first portion is a dramatic retelling of each of the stories as told from the perspectives of each of the characters through each game as though recounting them to their family once they have reunited, and are safe to provide their respective accounts. This is often accompanied by scribes that serve the Royal Family of Daventry such as Gerwain (servant of King Graham), Derek Karlavaegen, and eluki bes shahar. The stories include musings and thoughts of those involved, such as Prince Alexander's thoughts on Iconomancy (magic that focuses on imagery rather than words of power), which was briefly mentioned during King's Quest 5.

-The second portion is told as a literal game guide, to identify potential traps and pitfalls in order to avoid deaths and to indicate situations where alternate solutions would maximize the score of the gameplay, and often to review easter eggs and humorous deaths. Included within are maps and score tables, as well as information coded into the games in order to assist with versions of the games that would otherwise be locked behind piracy protection but veiled as in-game puzzles, such as the words of power from Mordack's book of spells in King's Quest 3.

The stories are very well thought through, and follows the best possible score routes (such as the visit to the land of the dead from King's Quest 6). This is done in order to give the reader the feeling of full accomplishment and focus on the emotional attachments to the characters and their perceptions of the world around them. The stories themselves only span the first 7 games of the series, however, so if you're looking for a guide for King's Quest 8: Mask of Eternity, it would be best to review elsewhere.
