In original publisher's binding: red cloth with borders stamped in blind, title and series title stamped in gilt on upper board.
Brayman was editor of The youth's casket 1855 to 1857.
Blakeman & Mason was located at 21 Murray St., New York, in 1862. Breed, Butler & Co. published in Buffalo between 1861 and 1866. James M. Johnson was in business in Buffalo in 1862. Cf. AAS 19th century American children's book trade directory.
