Edition Notes
Bristol B8937
Except for the newly published cavalry drills, the work is an extract from Baron von Steuben's Regulations for the order and discipline of the troops of the United States, prepared by him in his office as Gen. Washington's Inspector General and published by order of Congress in 1779; specifically it is all but a small part of Chapter V: Of the instruction of recruits. The cavalry drills may be from an unpublished ms. prepared by Jean Baptiste Ternant to form part of Steuben's Regulations. Cf. Sabin XXIII, p. 25-26, and Baron von Steuben and his Regulations / by Joseph R. Riling, p. 19.
