Excerpts

Question to Lord Stevenson

Q Is one of the challenges that it’s an invisible illness?
A Yes, it is. We now, in the UK, the government has said as a matter of policy, it recognizes parity between mental illness and physical illness; it should be seen as exactly the same which is a major step forward. In terms of achieving he step, making that happen, it is very difficult that we don’t, in truth, yet have biological explanations for depression, OCD, schizophrenia, etc., etc. We will. I’m confident we will get there. Fifty years ago, we didn’t’ have biological explanations for loads of cancer but we’re getting there; it’s just taking a bit of time.
