In Colombia there are about 130 plant species among trees, plants, palms, vines and roots used by different cultures to obtain fibers and create objects for different uses. These species are distributed throughout the Colombian territory, from sea level to 3,200 meters high. Hundreds of years of accumulated knowledge and practices have allowed the development of techniques of collection, preparation of fibers, manipulation and elaboration of objects of daily use and ritual. The pieces presented in this exhibition are the result of cultural practices with which it has been sought to solve daily and spiritual needs, related to the collection and preparation of food, breeding, the cure of diseases, the protection of the sun, rain and wind, the protection of the body and spirit, among many other functions.
