The Plumptre ed. was first pub. in 1826. Lovett, R.W. Robinson Crusoe, lists two Society eds., an unexamined 1850 ed. (406)--and an 1882 reissue (645). NUC pre-1956 also lists an 1850? and an 1882? edition. The British Museum Defoe catalog lists a [ca. 1850?] ed. None of these descriptions exactly match the copy in hand.
Remainder of imprint: Sold at the depositories: 77, Great Queen Street, Lincoln's Inn Fields; 4, Royal Exchange; 48, Piccadilly; and by all booksellers.
Some ill. engraved by Whymper.
Introd. includes Cowper's verses and a postscript related to the authorship of Robinson Crusoe.
Parts I and II of Robinson Crusoe, divided into chapters. Part II originally published under title: The farther adventures of Robinson Crusoe.
