The earliest known edition with the Charles Scribner's Sons imprint, also bearing the 743 & 745 Broadway address, was published in 1881. This edition isn't identical to the 1881 edition except for the missing date, because the address has been printed in smaller type, the 7 of 743 being directly beneath the E in "Charles," whereas in the 1881 edition it's beneath the R and the L, and the Y of "Broadway" being directly beneath the apostrophe in "Scribner's," whereas in the 1881 edition it's partly beneath the final S of "Scribner's" and the space after it. The next known edition with the Charles Scribner's Sons imprint, lacking the address, was published in 1893.
