The story is taken from Elizabeth Somerville's The history of a village maid.
Buff printed and illustrated paper covers. Frontispiece included in pagination.
Sheldon & Goodwin were printing in Hartford from November 1814 to October 1815. J.F. & C. Starr are known to have been printing there in 1815 and 1818.
Most of the cuts are the same as those used to illustrate the editions of this work issued at Hartford in 1812 and 1814 by Hale & Hosmer, who published there from 1811 to 1814.
Last leaf contains publisher's advertisements, and is identical in content and typography with that in the 1814 Hale & Hosmer edition except for the publisher's name.
