A study of the Ladin recording from the Alfred Quellmalz collection undertaken during the time of Nazi fascisim in South Tyrol. The publication takes into account the question of how to evaluate scientific research that arose under a totalitarian regime. Alfred Quellmalz's sound recordings are not objective findings, as dictatorships have always abused folk culture for propagand purposes

Contains the transcriptions of all 173 recorded songs and pieces from Val Badia and Val Gardena, plus photographs, entries from the field diaries and dossiers
