Richard Deacon (*1949 Bangor / Wales) ist einer der wichtigsten Bildhauer weltweit. Bekannt geworden ist er mit ebenso raumgreifenden wie feingliedrigen Skulpturen, die das Verhältnis von Innen und Aussen, offen und geschlossen auf aussergewöhnliche Weise neu interpretieren. Darüber hinaus ist Deacon ein leidenschaftlicher Zeichner, der dieser Tätigkeit einen ganz besonderen Stellenwert einräumt: ?Ich glaube, Zeichnen und Denken liegen sehr nahe beieinander.? 0Erstmals stehen die Zeichnungen Richard Deacons im Mittelpunkt einer Ausstellung. Gezeigt werden rund 150 Werke aus fünf Jahrzehnten ? von seinen künstlerischen Anfängen bis in die unmittelbare Gegenwart hinein. Fast alle Arbeiten sind erstmals öffentlich zu sehen. Work Description
Throughout his practice, Richard Deacon has employed diverse materials including wood, aluminium, plastic, steel, ceramic, glass, rubber, resin, polycarbonate, leather and cloth: exploiting their potential to create complex and challenging forms. It is a radical vocabulary that encompasses the organic, amorphous, geometric, rectilinear, intimate and monumental. Along with his continued interest in material exploration, Association illustrates Deacon's fascination with the relationship of the individual component to the structural whole and new works in ceramic, aluminium and steel evidence this investigation.
