Collected essays by various authors with col. photographs from the September 2009 production at Teatro alla Scala, including photos of the Palazzo Ducale in Mantova where the opera was premiered 24 of February 1607.

Includes 2 CDs of the live performance at Teatro alla Scala, Sept. 2009.

The acc. DVD contains highlights of Robert Wilson's Teatro alla Scala production; the disc also contains a DVD-ROM portion which includes MP3 audio files of the full performance and PDF files containing essays on the history and production of the opera, the Italian libretto with English translation and a reproduction of the original 1607 libretto.

Accompanying DVD + CDs issued in separate folder.

Includes bibliographical references.

Performed by the soloists, chorus and orchestra of the Teatro alla Scala with Rinaldo Alessandrini conducting with Georg Nigl as Orfeo and Roberta Invernizzi as Euridice.
