Book Details
Edition Notes
A public art project, by Jonathan Monk, held from May 20-June 2, 2007, at seven different locations in Manhattan, New York, and based on the original work, Seven Ballets in Manhattan, by Daniel Buren in 1975.
Performed on the 32nd anniversary of Buren's piece, five dancers recreated the original work at the identical locations, days and times. The original work was intended to evoke questions about public art.
Pamphlet is stamped in blue ink: Jonathan Monk: five ballerinas in Manhattan from May 27 2007 to June 2, 2007.
Monk's performance was part of "Six actions for New York City," performances by four artists which took place between May 1-June 2, 2007 in Manhattan and Coney Island, Brooklyn, New York. Event was sponsored by Creative Time.
During the performances the dancers handed out a revised version of Daniel Buren's original pamphlet for the 1975 performance.
