Comprises 62 engravings (frontispiece and 57 [i.e. 61] full-page illustrations) by Conrad and Rudolf Meyer, with accompanying Bible verses and poetry. Except for the verses engraved at foot of each illustration, the text of this edition is new. J.B. Müller's verses from the first edition are printed as an appendix on p.[124]-144.

The preface includes biographical sketches and lists the work of the Meyers.
