Edition Notes

Added engraved title page ("Markhams maister-peece ... 11th impression ..." without imprint) has illustrative border and is a copy of that in the earlier editions.

"An appendix, containing the exacteth receipts for curing all diseases in oxen, cows ... and all small cattel" ([2], 26 p.) has special title page with imprint: London, Printed by Eliz. Holt for M. Wotton and George Coniers, 1695.

"The complete jockey; or, The most exact rules and methods ... for the training up of race-horses ... To which is added, the most experienced way for buying horses; and instructions to avoid being cheated" (49, [3] p.) has special title page with imprint: London, Printed in the year, 1695.

The main work was originally published in London in 1610 under title: Markhams maister-peece. Editions under the present title had appeared since 1675 Though the additions are condensed versions of what he had published, they are not by Markham, according to Sir Frederick Smith, The early hist. of veterinary lit., London, 1919-33, v. 1, p. 333-334.
