Edition Notes

Broadside: 76 lines.

Ornament is the same as that used by G. Tiffany in other government documents, including his 1795 ed. of this broadside. Providing that the document was printed by Tiffany, it must have been issued between 1794, when he emigrated to Upper Canada (DCB V 814) and 1796, after which date the proclamation was no longer in force (Tremaine 815).

"Given under my hand and seal in the city of Quebec, the seventh day of February, in the thirty-second year of His Majesty's reign, and in the year ... one thousand seven hundred and ninety-two. John Graves Simcoe. By His Excellency's command, Thos. Talbot, acting secretary."

Includes bibliographical references (Cf. Tremaine 815 (73 lines; [Quebec : S. neilson, 1792]) ; cf. Tremaine 968 (69 lines; Newark : G. Tiffany, 1795) ).
