Mentioned on page 53 of “A Foreign Kid in World War II Shanghai” by George A Kulstad 2014 ISBN 978-0-692-39320-8. “Royal Navy Petty Officer James Wilfred Cuming, a readio operator stationed on the Peterel who was on shore leave when the Japanes attacked his ship. Cuming managed to stay on the run in Shanghai during the entire war, living by his wits and on the meager support his friends could provide. He was able to contact Allied intelligence based in Chunking and provided operational intelligence during the war.”
