Work Description
Presumably, a biography of David Bushnell. Bushnell designed & supervised construction of the TURTLE, a manually -powered submersible, which, piloted by Sgt. Ezra Lee, attacked HMS EAGLE in New York harbor. The attack was unsuccessful due to the inability of Lee to screw the powder charge to the hull of the Eagle, due to the Eagle's copper sheathing. Arguably the first true use of a submarine in combat.
