From a description on AbeBooks
..."autobiography of an ordinary man in the ranks of the Royal Tank Corps, in that vague period between 1918 and to-day" (jacket).
Dixon knew T. E. Lawrence during his spell in the Tank Corps and pages 294-309 are given over to their friendship. "T. E.'s other main companion at Bovington was Alec Dixon, an engineering draughtsman. He did not encounter Lawrence until 1924, and gradually developed a friendship with him. Dixon was an educated former bank clerk, enthusiastic writer and watercolourist, his paintings being remarked upon by many of the soldiers. He used to take commissions for scenes from the War. He had three books published with Lawrence's assistance [including Tinned Soldier]. They remained friends until Lawrence left the Corps in August 1925" (Simpson p. 34, Andrew Simpson, Another Life: Lawrence after Arabia, 2008).
