Terry Bloom's “The Brotherhood of Money. The Secret World of Banknote Printers”, published in the USA in 1983, is the only attempt to date to reveal a detailed view of the banknote industry and its modus operandi, removing the industry’s carefully imposed shroud of secrecy. The entire edition of that book was bought up - straight from the printing presses - by two prominent representatives of the industry to prevent the public from getting an inside view of the business.
Bloom ́s book is impossible to find today.
[adapted from Wiley's summary of the updated English edition of Klaus Bender's book, Moneymakers: The Secret World of Banknote Printing, 2006 (originally published in 2004 in German as Geldmacher, das geheimste Gewerbe der Welt)]
N.B. Indeed, as of this writing (November 2016), the book commands, on the second hand market, prices between 170 USD (used) and 480 up to 640 USD (new) [cf. Amazon.com]
