The Epic of Raiden

A Sci-fi fantasy about a boy named Raiden who wakes up from a year long coma in the hospital who has and knows nothing of his past but has a picture of himself holding two identical swords. He's sent home and finds he's unnecessarily rich, but very soon he realizes that something is not right and he begins to look into it which leads him to a lone room in his mansion with a note book and a story within that claims to know his past. And so he re-lives the story as if he were there and learns more of his forgotten past. The story once Raiden begins to learn of his past is full of high flying sword and magic action and slap stick comedy.

Work Description

It's about a group of relatively normal kids who stumble upon power beyond their imagination. Of course there's never just one side to a story, there are others with this power, and with more sinister goals in mind.

Excerpts

Bryce pulled three shinning throwing stars out of a pocket and threw them at Raiden. Raiden separated his swords and lifted them to block each one. Bryce then grabbed his sword and ran towards Raiden without unsheathing it. His upper body seemed to glide while his legs moved at high speed towards Raiden. Bryce lifted his sword and sliced with extreme speed and no hesitation at Raiden’s head. Raiden raised his sword and blocked the attack. Bryce continued to slice while moving closer to Raiden who blocked each attack by alternating swords. Raiden spun and sliced at Bryce’s legs. The both of them continued to slice and block. No attacks were getting through. Raiden dodged the next attack then lunged at Bryce with his right sword. Bryce blocked the attack with his sword. Raiden then fused his swords again and with a powerful slice attacked again. Bryce raised his sword to block the attack. The sword broke in half and Bryce jumped out of the way as Raiden’s sword cracked the ground. Bryce then jumped up and pulled a pair of nunchakus from his back. He began twirling them all around his body very quickly, not once hitting himself. He moved towards Raiden swinging them wildly. Raiden struggled to keep up with the attack. The nunchakus were hard to spot due to their speed, and the fact that there were two to look out for didn’t help very much. Raiden tossed one of the Crimson Blades at Bryce who used the nunchakus to block the attack, then stabbed at his stomach. Bryce dodged the attack and hit Raiden in the back of his head with the nunchakus. Raiden fell to the ground, and then kicked Bryce off his feet. Bryce landed on his hands and flipped backwards away from Raiden. I need a distraction! He’s too fast! Raiden thought. Suddenly and arrow landed in Bryce’s chest. Shocked, Bryce grabbed the arrow and pulled it out. This is it! Raiden thought. He ran towards Bryce picking up his sword and fusing them.

There are many high flying action scenes like this throughout the story. They are never dull and never anticipated.
