Book Details

First Sentence

"SINCE the first edition of this book, progress in original research and discovery in the field of South-East Asian ceramics can be summarized into four areas of primary importance: (1) the identification of Guangdong ceramics, which have provided an important 'missing link' between the wares of China and those of both Cambodia (currently called Kampuchea) and Vietnam; (2) the wholly unexpected discovery of burial sites in the hills of western Thailand near the Burmese border with ceramics, including significant numbers of northern Thai wares rarely seen previously; (3) the discovery of Burmese glazed ceramics, and (4) new findings from excavations at the Sawankhalok kiln site."
