Following the first 2 annual reports (January and December 1866), the Northern Counties' Asylum for Idiots and Imbeciles was called the Royal Albert Asylum
Consists of an illustration of the asylum, a list of legacies, a prospectus (John T. Hibbert, Edward Lawrence, Andrew Fairburn, James Diggens), list of trustees, presidents, officers and central committee members, a report of the general annual meeting at Chester on 21 October 1897, the report of the central committee (John T. Hibbert, chairman), the report of the principal (James Diggens), the report of the medical superintendent (T. Telford Smith), cases of improvement, the auditor's report (W. G. Welch), financial and statistical statements (James Diggens, T. Telford Smith), extracts from speeches, list of clergymen and ministers, presents received, census of idiots and imbeciles, a list of places that inmates came from and a short article about Brunton House, Scotforth, Lancaster - the asylum's home for "special private pupils", illustrated with 2 views
