Subject: Many Thanks
Subject: Many Thanks
This is not intended as a review as much as a 'Thank You' to Archive.org, The Getty Research Institute, associate-Ryan Betschart and the rest of those who take the time and make the effort to bring so many books and other media to the public.
'Candide' itself needs no review. It has been a classic for over 200 years and I am sure it will continue to be considered as such for many hundred of years to come. This particular printing however is a beautiful and rare jewel. One I am certain I would have never known the existence of without this wonderful site. A printing that I am unlikely to stumble across in the used bookshops and even if that were to happen, I am certain the cost would prohibitive.
Yet now, this evening when I retire, after turning out the light I shall open my beat-up old notebook, set it on my chest with an old t-shirt under it to keep the battery heat off me and once again enjoy Voltaire's immortal 'Candide' until sleep beckons. Then I will close the notebook, lay the pillow flat, sleep and tend the garden of my dreams.
For the enjoyment and magic of these books -
My Sincere Thanks
