520 $aExpedited services is the administrative mechanism that allows the Food Stamp Program to provide rapid assistance to those applicants whose need for food is most urgent. The Food and Consumer Service of the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture sponsored a comprehensive study of expedited service that examined the 1981-1984 period. This report presents the results of research conducted by Abt Associates Inc. under contract to the FCS. The study involved collecting data in a nationally representative sample of 59 local food stamp offices, located in 25 states and the District of Columbia.
