520 $a"Throughout the summer of 2014, Deadhead, a large scale sculptural installation by Cedric, Nathan and Jim Bomford, traveled by barge and tug to moor in two different Vancouver waterways. This full colour book traces the three year narrative of Deadhead's production, including artists' research, as well as texts by curator Barbara Cole, writer Kimberly Phillips and event programmer Jen Weih to explore improvisation, adaptability, uncomfortable histories, and the jurisdictional issues that contributed to the projects rich legacy. Choosing the water as a site for occupation, the artists explored waterways as public space and conduits of trade. In amongst paddle boats, pleasure craft, passenger ferries, cruise ships, freighters, and barges stacked high with global commodities, Deadhead introduced art as valuable cargo within a constantly changing flotilla of economic exchange."--$cProvided by publisher.
