520 $aEverywhere Company K went the men forged a record of discord and misbehavior-widespread absenteeism, insubordination, intramural violence and protests sometimes bordering on mutiny. This book describes just how Company K disintegrated. However bizarre the behavior of Company K may appear to an outsider, it becomes readily comprehensible once incidents are viewed through the eyes of the participants. This story emphasizes the way in which beliefs and sentiments-concerning the army, their leaders, and especially themselves developed.
