520 $aEnding Domestic Violence is based on public opinion surveys gathered from the Family Violence Prevention Fund from 1992 to 1996. Setting the stage with an excellent overview of the battered women's movement, the authors go on to examine current public perception of the problem, intervention, and the dramatic shifts that have occurred in recent years. To better understand the role of cultural context as it relates to domestic violence, three experts in the field - each a woman of color herself - were invited to collaborate on a chapter detailing the results of their research in African American, Latino, and Asian American populations. Featuring this enriching ethnic perspective, the authors consider the implications for change the research could have on public opinion and behavior. In addition, the appendixes accessibly describe the methods used for each of the studies. Ending Domestic Violence is ideal for academics, practitioners, and students - in a variety of fields, including social work, clinical/counseling psychology, criminal justice/criminology, communication, and public health - as well as general readers seeking to participate in solving this problem.
