520 $aA collection of approx. 600 chapbooks, mainly from the first half of the nineteenth century, although most are undated. Most are printed in Scotland; imprints include Glasgow, Paisley, Edinburgh, Stirling, Falkirk, Aberdeen, Ayr and Kilmarnock, as well as London, Sheffield, Newcastle, Manchester, York and Coventry. Most are anonymous but some titles attributed to authors such as Hannah More, Daniel Defoe, Robert Burns, John Bunyan, James Hogg and Allan Ramsay. Many of the titles are illustrated wtih woodcuts.
