520 $aFlea Goes Out is a humorous and fictional animal story about Flea hopping onto Big Bill to go out. They went to a café for lunch where Flea started hopping onto other people's heads! People noticed the flea and started to say "Ouch!" People left the café...including Big Bill with Flea back on his head. The story is narrated with dialogue and illustrative text. Flea Goes Out is a simple narrative story. Critical thinking questions are provided to guide the reader. Illustrations match the text. A visual information guide is provided for teachers to draw students' attention to the changes in font style like bold text as well as the layout and design of a sign. There is an exemplar of a sign at the end of the book to demonstrate a restaurant sign. An activity on drawing and writing about where Flea will go next is provided for teachers to extend students' learning. Readers develop vocabulary such as interest words (café), high-frequency words (inside), and positional words (onto). Opportunities arise to discuss capital letters for sentence beginnings and names (Big Bill), full stops, commas, quotation marks, and exclamation marks. Focus on digraph fl (flea), word family unch (lunch), and suffix ing (staying). --https://www.pearsoncanadaschool.com.
