500 $aWilliam Lloyd Garrison extols Samuel Joseph May's Christian spirit. Edmund Quincy and Robert F. Wallcut are on the executive committee of the Non-Resistance Society. Garrison is confident in the rightness of the Declaration of Sentiments. Non-resistance was discussed at the Odeon last night, with an almost unanimous vote in favor of war. Amasa Walker advocated "the pacific policy, taking care to say that he was no believer in the doctrines of the Non-Resistance Society. His hobby was a Congress of Nations." There is a plot against the Liberator, with Amos A. Phelps and Charles T. Torrey foremost in the matter, and backed by Henry B. Stanton, Alanson St. Clair, and others. The Board plans to print a monthly news sheet. Orange Scott and Nathaniel Colver are in favor of a new paper. Francis Jackson, Edund Quincy, and William Bassett will manage the Liberator's finances.
