500 $aAnne Weston compliments the addressee, who is presumably Mary Weston. She describes a Board meeeting of the Massachusetts Anti-Slavery Society invited to the house of Mrs. Maria Weston Chapman, "so that they might have the benefit of the ladies' advice." Anne names the Board members and the ladies present. The question discussed was where the convention should be held, as it was feared that they could not have Congress Hall. Anne has called on Miss Mary S. Parker about a Board meeting to consider asking Mr. [Samuel J.] May "to labour as our agent." Has made a long call on Melania Ammidon, and attended Dr. Charles Theodore Christian Follen's witty lecture. Calls attention to a notice in "Human Rights" calling for lists of officers and accounts "of the society" to be sent to Elizur Wright, and tells the addressee to have an account of her society written by Mrs. Fifield. Anne is going to ask Samuel J. May if he can go to Weymouth. Mrs. [Sarah Greene] Chapman, "the old lady joined our society as a life member..." Mrs. Maria Weston Chapman was at Mrs. Louisa Loring's and heard Mrs. Lydia Maria Child read the manuscript of her new novel,"Philothea."
