500 $aAnne Warren Weston begins the letter with news of her family and friends. She mentions an argument between Richard Hildreth and Mrs. Maria Weston Chapman. She collected signatures on a petition. One woman hoped Anne would get a "nigger husband." She went to the installation of Dr. Charles T. C. Follen, and to Miss Jackson's wedding, "everything was very elegant indeed." Theodore Weld sent a letter introducing a Miss Newcomb from Pittsburgh. Lewis Tappan spoke at a meeting. This part of the letter is in the form of a diary-meetings, visits, etc. "They have given up all hope of Ann Terry's recovery. Ann Chapman does not expect her to live more than a few weeks." She describes the method of getting signatures on petitions."Dr. Channing has headed the petition and John Quincy Adams has headed another." "I have had an offer to go to New York as a private teacher in Robert Sedgwick's family."
