520 $aJohnson thanks Garrison for his reply to Professor Newman, stating that it will aid the cause on both sides of the Atlantic. Johnson expresses his regret over the "mischief" caused by Conway in England, and opines that they ought to have not sent him there. Johnson states that he feels Garrison's thoughts concerning the "system of labor introduced in Louisiana by Gen. Banks" as expressed in his letter to Newman seem "deficient". Johnson closes by informing Garrison that Mary Anne is very ill, and that her physician has advised her to travel to the seaside to recuperate. Johnson inquires if Garrison may recommend any suitable resorts, or if he can direct him to someone who could provide such information.
