Johnson expresses his temptation to accompany Garrison to Washington, but demurs owing to his financial circumstances not permitting such luxuries. Johnson informs Garrison that Joseph and Mary Post, subscribers to the Liberator for the entirety of its existence, are eager to receive Garrison at their home, and wish him to lecture in Westbury, Long Island. Johnson proposes that Garrison could see to this on his return trip from Washington to Boston.
