500 $aOn pages 1-4 of this manuscript, there is a letter by Emma Michell presumably addressed to Anne Warren Weston on Nov. 21, 1849. Emma Michell is sending to the next anti-slavery bazaar a "representation" of a "May day Village Club and Fair in the West of England." Most of the figures are made of bread. Here, the model was shown to 300 people. She gives instructions for setting up, framing, and unpacking.
500 $aOn page four of this manuscript, there is a separate note written by John Bishop Estlin on November 23, 1849. John Bishop Estlin encloses notes to Dr. [Samuel Gridley] Howe and Mrs. [Samuel] May. He includes a clipping from the Bristol Gazette describing the model designed and executed by Mrs. Michell, with the assistance of Miss Ames. Kate Parks and John Bishop Estlin are satisfied with any disposition of the French translation of Frederick Douglass's book made by Mrs. Chapman, Mrs. Follen, and Anne Warren Weston. John Bishop Estlin comments: "Mrs. F[ollen]'s & Miss Cabot's visit to Bristol was a great treat to us."
500 $aSee Call No. Ms.A.9.2 v.24, p.106A, for the envelope that accompanied this letter.
