520 8 $aPursuant to an Illinois House Joint Resolution, the Dept. of Public Works and Buildings, investigated the effect of flooding in Illinois caused by the unnatural diversion of flow from the Yellowhead-Singleton Ditch System in Indiana; and made recommendations on legal actions to resolve the matter.
545 $aThe Yellowhead-Singleton Ditch, an interstate drainage channel, was constructed to drain the Kankakee Swamps in Lake County (IN) and Kankakee County (IL). Some 235 square miles of Indiana drainage was brought into Illinois and passed through the main ditch of the Momence and Yellowhead Towhnships Drainage District No. 1 before entering the Kankakee River.
