520 $aIn this edition the editor has tried to reconstruct the text of the play as we may supposed it to have been first produced, possibly by the Earl of Pembroke's company at the Theatre and at court in the winter of 1592-3. Dr. Greg has relied principally on the edition of 1616, which, he believes, is in general the more authoritative, but he has throughout kept a watchful eye on that of 1604, which he has followed in certain passages, and from which he has taken a number of individual readings. In every case the reasons that have determined his departure from the quarto of 1616 will be found explained in his parallel-text edition of the play. -- From publisher's description.
