520 $aDr. William Edward Burghardt Du Bois pioneered the science of sociology. His detailed long-range study of an African American community in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, was the first of its kind. Du Bois helped found the Niagara Movement and the NAACP, and became the editor of Crisis, the NAACP's journal.
