520 $aGender and the Name of God explores a sensitive but important issue: the way God is named in worship, especially in the baptismal formula. Examining how language is used in worship, Duck probes the cultural and biblical context for "Father" as a name for the Divine. She suggests methods of shaping liturgical language so that it will not be gender biased. Then, drawing on theological and historical research about baptism, she offers alternatives to the present Trinitarian baptismal formula.
