In a sense the book is an introduction to Paul in that it deals with the main perspectives of his preaching and critically compares the latter with the self-disclosure of Jesus. Although the primary aim of the work is to arrive at a clear understanding of the character of Paul's preaching, the author carries on a continuous polemic with outstanding representatives of New Testament criticism and devotes considerable attention to the position of R.
