He recorded workers at the bench, he kept lamps, vacuum cleaners, and kitchen appliances. About 250,000 images - black and white and colour photographs - offer a unique look into the factory and on the people who produced the goods. A look that was headed by official performances and still tried to follow the own perception. The project double economies examines how you can now deal with this unique corpus of images: how to make them accessible, how to gain historical knowledge from them, they can provide a starting point for the reflection. In addition to a number of essays, the book gathers artistic contributions and others by Armin Linke, Olaf Nicolai, and KP Brehmer. Between 1967 and 1990, freelance photographer Reinhard Mende what commissioned by various GDR combines to document factories and the presentation of their manufactured products at the international trade fair in Leipzig. He portrayed women at their workbenches, he took shots of lamps, vacuum cleaners, and kitchen appliances. The OSTEO. 250,000 pictures in his archives - both in black and white and colour - offer a rare look at the factories, and the people who produced all these commodities. Although the perspective what directed by official ideals, Mende followed his own view.
