Or, un passage de la tente à la maison en ville s'est amorcé à partir du milieu du siècle dernier pour prendre forme à la fin des années soixante-dix. L'État colonial et, plus tard, postcolonial, étaient les principaux acteurs du fait urbain et de la sédentarisation, récente au Sahara Atlantique, sans négliger la conjoncture climatique catastrophique qui avait déstructuré les systèmes de productions pastorales nomades. Au-delà d'une approche essentialiste du nomadisme, nous traitons ici comment le nomade habitait sa tente, et par la suite sa maison, pour pouvoir mettre l'accent sur l'interaction entre l'organisation spéciale et l'organisation sociale.
