520 $aConsidered one of the most innovative artists in the use of textiles, Sheila Hicks (Hastings, Nebraska, 1934, lives and works in Paris) has developed her career, which began in the mid-1950s, influenced by pre-Hispanic textiles and abstract painting. The catalog comprises Hicks' work from one of her first 1954 paintings to an installation designed for the Amparo Museum main entrance hall, a body of work that highlights her Latin American roots and influences. Although she lived in Mexico between 1959 and 1964, this her first exhibition in Mexico.
