520 $aIn the last three decades, the Metropolitan Region of Buenos Aires has undergone a new process of expansion related to developments of closed urbanizations for residential uses of the middle and upper sectors, which occupy one and a half times the area of ??the Federal Capital. From a historical perspective, this research proposes that the formation of extra-urban nuclei of exclusively residential uses, which favor recreational-sporting practices and the family union in a "natural" environment are not entirely novel in the territorial expansion of Greater Buenos Aires (GBA ), but some of its bases can be found in processes of suburbanization in the first half of the 20th century. In this context, the book presents an analysis of the growth of a particular type of modern suburb, called, according to the terms of the "neighborhoods park" or "weekend". It helps to understand some of the foundations on which current phenomena are based, while also discussing the most widespread visions that only associate the suburban expansion of the first half of the 20th century with popular subdivisions and the arrival of immigrants.
