520 $aSince the 1980's, Daniel Senise (b. Brazil 1955) has been known for his large-format paintings with volumetric tensions and spatial perspectives in reference to architecture. According to curator Daniela Labra, the imbricating languages of these pieces reflect Senise's pictorial approach around memory, spatiality, representation, materiality, Western art history and philosophy. "The 20 pieces shown here were made from 2005 to 2019 in locations such as São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Recôncavo baiano, Sorocaba and New York. Some series were conceived in collaborative partnership with Caetano Dias, Fernando Laszlo, Mauro Restiffe and Thiago Barros. One work was produced specially for this occasion: a reflecting aluminum sheet partly covered by a collage of burnt debris collected from the fire that destroyed Villa-Lobos Theater, in Copacabana in 2015." --Page 7.
