520 8 $aProfessor Christoph Mäckler is a well-known German architect. With his latest completed building project, the 170-metre-high OpernTurm, he has altered the appearance of one of Frankfurt/Main's most important urban squares. Together with the Alte Oper and the other buildings around the square, this office high-rise with a seven-storey 'plinth' and stone facades forms a truly metropolitan ensemble. This publication documents the design and construction of the structure from the first idea via designing and planning to completion. Texts by Wolfgang Sonne, Walter A. Noebel, Dankwart Guratzsch, Jerry I. Speyer and Christoph Mäckler, accompanied by many illustrations (photographs, drawings, plans), trace the story of the OpernTurm in detail.
