520 $aThe architectural profession was born from the gap created in the sixteenth century between the designer and the contractor who, until then, were one: the master of the work. Louis XIV was accentuated by creating l'Académie d'architecture, and Convention et le Directoire by creating l'Académie des beaux-arts. During this evolution, professional bodies have favored an alliance with the political rather than the professional world power: over time, architects have abandoned some of which normally clear from their jurisdiction to contractors, engineers the offices of study, not to be reduced--in some cases--as providing the only drawing of the building permit. This book traces the long decline through examples.
